Nike makes their entrance into the metaverse by buying virtual shoe company RTFKT. Backed by A16Z, the studio has partnered with artists like Takashi Murakami and FEWOCiOUS who’s sneaker collection sold out in 6 minutes and made him $3.1 million. Nike is primed to sell more virtual apparel than real items in the upcoming years. With their other brands like Jordan and Converse they take a command market share for virtual apparel in the metaverse.
